Holding the Moments After Birth
Dear Mothers,
how can we hold the moments after birth
in sacredness
in connection
in nourishment
and in rest…
especially when the world wants us to speed right by it?
How do we hold these moments so they don’t slip through our fingers like water?
🌿 🌿 🌿
How we perceive time in the weeks after birth
(hint: this is actually RELEVANT for all stages of life)
I hear many times from mothers how fast the newborn phase goes for them. That they want that phase back! They miss it!
I resonate with this sentiment and I feel like how we engage with our time after birth has a major influence.
Are we caught up in the day-to-day to do list with no pause for reflection? Do we have loving care & support or are we doing it alone?
One act that I talk about a lot with my clients is how Ritual & Ceremony are important ancestral ways we can help slow down the time, set intentions, and call in presence.
Have you ever been to the lake on a beautiful day and rested in your desire to daze off into the blue sky? In those moments, you weren’t seeking something to do or clean or watch… you were in presence to the beauty of the moment.
How to invite mini moments of presence into your mothering…
Is it giving yourself 5 more minutes in bed to rest each morning?
Is it calling in your friends for a meal train?
Is it asking your partner for some alone time each day?
Is it saying no to an overloaded schedule?
Is it making sure you have a solid lunch packed each day?
Is it making time to stretch?
What do you need and what’s possible?
